Wow. You better check yourself before you wreck yourself dude.
a) During the dictatorship in Argentina, he gave shelter to those being persecuted on church property, and on one occasion gave his identity papers to a man that looked like him so he could flee Argentina. Accomplice of a dictatorship my ass.
b) While he does not support same-sex marriage (and has spoken against it), that does not make him a homophobic.
“He has affirmed church teaching on homosexuality, including that “men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies must be accepted with respect and compassion” (The Week)
Of course it’s still too fucking soon for Catholic officials to turn in favor of same-sex marriage. While I am in favor of it myself, marriage is a very important tradition to Catholics, and support for same-sex marriage has just become a recent movement, while heterosexual marriage is an institution that has stayed the same for centuries, even millennia, so you shouldn’t be surprised that older generations are not immediately on board with it, it’s just something that was always viewed as taboo while they were growing up.
That being said, you shouldn’t slander a man that has committed more acts of charity and kindness in his lifetime than you have. And if you’re going to make a judgement about someone, at least do your research.
